What population do you treat?
- Primarily Older Adults 60-105
- The greatest hurdles are inability to engage in home activities, community socializing...things they love to do, caused by:
- poor balance, general weakness, minimal flexibility, poor endurance, feeling fatigued
- To remain, or to be independent again, free to do the things that are important to them,
- Walk the dog, play with grandchildren, engage in sporting activities, maintain their home, travel, etc.
- My training includes scheduled standardized testing to track progress and allow for increased challenge on goals that are obtained, as well as the flexibility to change tasks that are not a good fit so that the client can achieve their goals.
- My clients well-being and safety are my #1 priority. I am compassionate and trustworthy, and only challenge them when they are ready. I build trust with clients which allows me to challenge them (can take multiple sessions if needed), I am dedicated and practical and quality driven.
- My clients enjoy my upbeat personality and "can-do" attitude. I am approachable, friendly and dedicated to my clients. They appreciate the professional environment and continual feedback (both ways) w/ praises for "progress and job well done" as well as honest feedback and how to improve when not meeting standard.
- If client allows, I will include family member/ friend in conversation. Find out what is important to client and possibly re-define goals. If client feels their initial goal is not obtainable, we will look at the goal and perhaps find something achievable. There are times that we make more ground with small victories until we can gain more momentum and this is perfectly acceptable.
- I accept everyone where they are. My philosophy is: we're all in this together, we're all different. Different values, religions, races, backgrounds, strengths, weaknesses, women, men...in other words, the golden rule applies here. I am friendly, committed and take my profession very seriously.
